Rafael Castillo Zapata has been teaching literary theory at the Central University of Venezuela since 1989. Visiting professor at Brown University (1993) and Rutgers University (2006). He has published various books of poems (Estación de tránsito, 1992; Providence, 1995; Estancias, 2009), literary research and visual arts (Fenomenología del bolero, 1990; El semiólogo salvaje, 1997; La espiral incesante, 2010; Cuerpos constelados, 2012). Currently, he is working on research focused on the Latin American vanguards of the 60s and 70s.
