Title: The Micro-X Sounding Rocket Telescope
Speaker: David Goldfinger, MIT
Abstract: Micro-X is a sounding rocket borne telescope that uses Transition Edge Sensor microcalorimeters to make X-ray observation with improved energy resolution. Commissioning and functionality testing are complete and this project is now in the calibration and performance optimization phase. Micro-X has a variety of applications with plans to observe the Puppis A supernova remnant during its first flight, as well as future observations of the Milky Way to search for X-ray signals from decaying dark matter. I will present a complete overview of the instrument as well as an update on progress towards launch.
