“Earth’s climate has always changed.” This statement is true, but should it be comforting? Dr. Yarrow Axford of Northwestern's Department of Earth and Planetary Science will provide a quick overview of some current changes in the Arctic and why they matter for the rest of the world. Then, drawing upon her own research involving more than fifteen expeditions to remote northern study sites, she will share how reconstructions of past conditions shape her perspective on current and future climate change.
