The Inflammatory and Insulinemic Potential of Diet and Risk of Cancer
Inflammatory and insulin responses play important roles in the development of cancer and diet has been shown to modulate these biological pathways. It is thus likely that dietary patterns associated with levels of circulating inflammatory or insulin response markers may alter cancer risk. We previously developed empirical hypothesis-oriented dietary indices to assess the inflammatory or insulinemic potential of diet. In this talk, I will present the development of the index scores and share findings of their application to examine cancer risk.
