Abstract. The APTA Board of Directors (BOD) charged a task force with reviewing the best practices in clinical education for physical therapist students. The Best Practices for Physical Therapist Clinical Education (BPPTCE) task force met from January 2016 until January 2017 and developed a report outlining 5 content recommendations for the future of physical therapist clinical education. Fully adopting these recommendations would change the structure of entering clinical practice upon completion of the doctor of physical therapy degree. Entry-level practice would involve staged licensure and could be achieved only after completion of a clinical internship and a clinical residency. The APTA BOD is now seeking feedback from stakeholders to determine how to move forward with the recommendations from the BPPTCE. This session will outline the recommendations of the report and allow time for participant discussion. The following link contains resources regarding the BPPTCE report including an executive summary, the full report and a 22-minute narrated presentation: https://www.apta.org/Educators/TaskForceReport/PTClinicalEducation/ Speakers: Cori Arquines, PT, MHPE, CLT serves as a Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University.
