Description:

Please join the Segal Design Institute for the latest talk in our Segal Seminar Series on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 4 pm in the Ford Design Studio. Light refreshments will be provided. Our guest speaker will be Dartmouth's Lorie Loeb and her talk is titled  "Designing Delight: Creating Emotionally Impactful Experiences."

Details:

Delight is a buzz word in business and self-help guides. Apple, Google, Zappos, Mercedes Benz, have all launched customer service plans focused on creating delight. Delight your customer and you create brand loyalty, or so the thinking goes. Still, delight is a little understood emotion. The dictionary doesn’t have a good definition for it, businesses know they want it but are just guessing at how to create it, and psychologists haven’t yet figured out a good way to describe the phenomenon. In this seminar, we will explore delight to better understand what it is, why it matters, the physiological responses to it, how you can create it, and how you might measure it.

Speaker Background:

Lorie Loeb is a professor in the Computer Science Department at Dartmouth College, Director of the Digital Arts Programs, and the Co-Founder/Executive Director of the Digital Arts Leadership and Innovation (DALI) Lab. Lorie is also the President/Co-Founder of TellEmotion, Inc, a start-up aimed at motivating people to change behavior and conserve resources by creating both an emotional and intellectual connection to energy use data.
