University Teaching Roudtable: Engaging undergraduates in productive discussions
WHEN: Friday, October 20, 2017
12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
WHERE: Great Room, 600 Haven street (Evanston)
Have a discussion class where only 1 or 2 students are the only regular participants? Teaching a freshman seminar for the first time or on a new topic? What if some or all of the group is too chatty or too eager to veer off topic? These are some of the questions and topics our conversation will consider. We will discuss ways to break the ice, ways to encourage and evoke contribution from all students, and discuss how students previous coursework, life experience and background could contribute to their degree of participation in discussion-based courses.
*Registration Required. Please register.
Location: Great Room, 600 Haven street (Just off Sheridan Road and Haven [intersection in front of Tech]).
