Research Creates New Horizons for Memory Loss and Aging
Presented by Sandra Weintraub, PhD
Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Neurology and Psychology
Director, Clinical Core
Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center, Northwestern University FSM
Our knowledge about the effects of aging on the brain and memory has grown over the past 20 years. Much of this knowledge has come from research studies of individuals who develop memory problems as they age but also from individuals who stay “sharp.” We will highlight Northwestern’s contributions to research on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of age-related memory loss.
We dedicate this presentation to the memory of Mr. Tom Jones whose enthusiasm for involving the African American community in cognitive aging research helped us establish our 23-year relationship with the Francis J. Atlas Senior Center.
