A central theme in the Administration’s economic and jobs agenda is the promise to bring back coal. However, according to the US Energy Information Administration’s October 2017 preliminary monthly electric generator inventory, over 170 coal plants have closed between 2002 and 2016, with nearly 30 slated to retire between now and 2025.
Join us for a conversation with a panel of energy experts to discuss the role of competitive markets in energy, the economics of keeping coal plants open, the impact current legislation will have on the coal industry, and the impact these macro trends are having on the ground in coal plant communities.
Speakers:
--Jennifer Walling, Executive Director of Illinois Environmental Council
--Barry Matchett, Director, External Affairs at NRG Energy
--Others to be announced shortly
