The Black Panther movie brought the conversation of Afrofuturism to the global stage. The Kellogg Africa Business Club (ABC) is bringing this conversation to Northwestern. Please join us for a discussion with award-winning novelist and Black Panther comics co-writer Dr. Nnedi Okorafor to discuss the roots of Afrofuturism, her inspiration for telling stories that re-imagines the future of Africa, and how we can use stories to change narratives in our communities.
Dr. Okorafor is an international award-winning novelist of African-based science fiction and a prominent Marvel comic books writer. Her latest works include her novel The Book of Phoenix, her Binti Trilogy, and her children’s book Chicken in the Kitchen. Dr. Okorafor's novel, Who Fears Death, will be turned into a television series on HBO with Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin as executive producer.
HER BOOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT THE EVENT.
The conversation will be moderated by Professor Chris Abani of the Northwestern University English Department.
This event is co-sponsored by the Buffett Institute for Global Studies.
