I will explore the surprising interplay between six basic principles underlying perturbative relativistic QFT predictions: gauge invariance, the Adler zero, BCFW scaling, soft theorems, locality, and unitarity. Spectacularly, unexpected combinations of these principles lead to unique solutions: the tree level scattering amplitudes of important massless field theories. In all of these cases, unitarity always emerges from other principles.
