The aim of the symposium is to empower women in leadership and
to facilitate career advancement by identifying barriers prevalent
in medicine and finding ways to initiate constructive solutions. The
conference will also allow for networking amongst community and
academic women in medicine.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Facilitate the advancement of women in medicine
2. Identify the skills needed to be an effective leader
3. Identify strategies when to say yes and when to say no to professional endeavors
4. Develop the art of negotiation
5. Identify evidence based data and peer reviewed studies relating to implicit bias and gender equity
6. Identify barriers that currently exist for women in medicine and create constructive solutions
7. Describe strategies for work life balance while maintaining overall wellness and health
