Associate Prof. Mei-Ling Hopgood will talk about her work at Medill on identity, language and bilingual journalism techniques, and a curriculum to help students to engage in a more open way with different global communities and with each other. Hopgood teaches JOUR333, Bilingual Reporting And Storytelling at Medill (Spanish and English, focusing on Latino audiences), and oversees the Journalism Residency Program in Argentina, where she was a journalist for almost eight years. She also took a group of students to Shanghai over Spring Break to Shanghai and focused on telling the stories of international students and developing empathy.
