Description:

With guests from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra horn section; distinguished alumni; the Chicago Horn Consort; the Northwestern University Horn Ensemble; Fiona Queen, harpsichord; Eric Schweikert, drums; Julian Paul Richey, guitar; and Adam Maloney, bass

In this recital, Williams pays tribute to a longtime colleague, the late Chicago Symphony Orchestra hornist Norman Schweikert, together with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Bienen students and alumni, the Chicago Horn Consort, and other special guests. The program was inspired by the horn choir concerts Schweikert programmed during the early '80s, featuring some of the same compositions as well as new works and Schweikert's own arrangement of Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis.

An internationally recognized hornist and brass pedagogue, Williams has presented concerts, master classes, recitals, and lectures throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Previously associate principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra, she is currently principal horn of the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra. Williams has made chamber music appearances with the Vermeer Quartet, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. The Chicago Chamber Musicians’ Grammy-nominated recording of Mozart works for winds and strings features her performance of the Horn Quintet.
