Description:

This seminar has been CANCELED

The Liquid Argon Time Projector Chamber (LAr-TPC) technology – with extraordinary event
imaging, excellent particle identification, and fine-granularity calorimetry – coupled to highintensity neutrino beams opens unprecedented opportunities to probe New Physics. Several Beyond Standard Model (BSM) scenarios can be explored by LAr-TPC neutrino detectors at Short-Baseline. New Physics observables can be placed into two categories: modifications to the neutrino oscillation paradigm and novel experimental signatures. A recent search for new particles (millicharged particles) with the ArgoNeuT experiment – a small LAr-TPC exposed to the NuMI beam at Fermilab – will be presented. Also, the Short-Baseline Neutrino (SBN) experimental program at Fermilab, that in the next future will provide enlightening new output and possibly a definitive answer to the question of existence of light sterile neutrinos will be reviewed. Three LAr-TPC detectors aligned on the Booster Neutrino Beam at Fermilab, at different distance from the source, will allow for an unprecedented level of control of systematic uncertainties in the long-standing sterile neutrino search. Beyond the flagship oscillation searches, the SBN program has a broad science goal, that includes BSM explorations ranging from extra-dimensions to light dark matter.
