Workshop Description:

In this workshop attendees will gain familiarity with classroom assessment techniques (CATs), how to pair them with specific learning objectives, and apply them to different teaching contexts. Attendees will explore how low-stakes in-class activities can help gauge students’ comfort with material and the efficacy of teaching practices.

About the Facilitators:

Chris Mizzi is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Materials Science and Engineering and a current Graduate Teaching Fellow. At Northwestern he served as TA for graduate MSE courses, participated in Mentored Discussions of Teaching, and completed Searle’s Teaching Certificate Program.

James Proszek is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Rhetoric and Public Culture department. He has served as an instructor of record for public speaking classes for several years, completed Searle’s Teaching Certificate Program, and is currently teaching public speaking and coordinating Northwestern’s Public Speaking Lab.
