Description:

You’ve participated in Zoom, but have you opened a breakout room? Launched a poll? This workshop gives participants a chance to practice using key features of Zoom as a “host” (i.e., the person running the meeting) to prepare to facilitate interactive sessions and small group discussions on the platform. Facilitators will explain how and why to use breakout rooms, screen sharing, polls, and nonverbal feedback, and simulate hosting a meeting for participants. After completion of this workshop you will receive materials so you can run a similar Zoom practice session with your colleagues.

This workshop is open to Northwestern graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff. If you’ve never used Zoom before we recommend first attending one of NUIT’s Introduction to Zoom for Instructors sessions.

Prior to Attending this workshop:

- Sign up for a Northwestern Zoom user account by visiting the Zoom login webpage and clicking the Log In button. Accounts are provisioned automatically after first login.
- Download the Zoom desktop application. Mobile users will need to download the app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. If you have previously used Zoom be sure to update to the latest version.

Note: The meeting link will be shared with registered participants via their Eventbrite registration confirmation
