Brandy D. Christian is President and CEO of the Port of New Orleans, as well as CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Corp., a shortline connecting railroad and subsidiary of the Port. Christian also serves on the Green Marine Board of Directors, Railroad-Shipper Transportation Advisory Council, Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank Trade and Transportation Advisory Council, Louisiana Board of International Commerce, the World Trade Center of New Orleans Board of Directors, the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors and on the Cruise Committee for the American Association of Port Authorities. 

Hani Mahmassani, NUTC Director, and the William A. Patterson Distinguished Chair in Transportation at Northwestern University, will moderate the roundtable. He brings over 35 years of research, academic and professional experience in transportation systems analysis, network modeling and logistics systems, and currently serves on the International Advisory Board of the Panama Canal Authority. 

Steven Rothberg is Founding Partner of Mercator International and has 42 years of diversified experience in international freight transportation. He began his career in operations planning with Southern Pacific Railroad, then directed transpacific marketing for U.S. Steamship Lines, and was director of corporate plans for United Airlines. He held executive positions for Sea-Land Service, and helped launch and manage the Global Ports Group of Macquarie Capital Limited. He has been providing strategic and operational consulting services to clients for more than seven years. He received a bachelor’s from Cornell and master’s in transportation systems from MIT.

Ricaurte Vásquez is Panama Canal Administrator with more than 30 years of experience in financial and international capital market management and in the public sector. He served as Minister for Canal Affairs and Chairman of Panama Canal Board of Directors (2004-2006), deputy administrator (2000-2004) and finance director (1996-2000) for the waterway, playing a role in laying the groundwork for the Panama Canal Expansion Program. Vasquez has a PhD in Managerial Economics and master’s in Operations Research & Statistics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, as well as his master’s in Economics from North Carolina State University.
