"Shifting Departmental Cultures & Conversations with Teaching Committees"
This panel session showcases the work of three Graduate Teaching Fellows who led teaching committees over the past year in their home departments. Participants will explore ideas ranging from small-scale to large-scale efforts that impact professional development of graduate students via discussions of shifting departmental cultures around teaching and learning.

Graduate Teaching Fellow panelists:
Caitlin Monroe (History) is a PhD candidate studying practices of history education in Western Uganda. She has been a teaching assistant for a variety of courses in history and is currently instructor of record for her course in global history.

Carter Moulton (Screen Cultures) is a fourth-year graduate student studying media industries, fandom, and tourism. He has been a teaching assistant at Northwestern and has taught college composition at several other institutions of higher education.

Matthew Nelsen (Political Science) is defending in June and his research explores the ways in which civic education courses shape political attitudes around race and ethnicity in high school students. He has been a teaching assistant and instructor of record for a variety of courses in political science at Northwestern and taught high school in San Antonio, TX.
