Sharon Feigon is the founder and executive director of the Shared-Use Mobility Center (SUMC), a nonprofit, public interest organization that works to address the environmental impact, accessibility, and cost of transportation by connecting the public and private sectors, building knowledge, and developing solutions that achieve shared mobility for all. Prior to her tenure at SUMC, Sharon was the CEO of IGO Carsharing, the nonprofit organization that started carsharing in the Chicago region. Before taking the helm at IGO, Sharon was the Director of Research and Development at the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT). She holds an MBA from DePaul University and a BA in Economics from Antioch College.
Hani Mahmassani, NUTC Director and the William A. Patterson Distinguished Chair in Transportation at Northwestern University, will moderate this asynchronous virtual roundtable. Dr. Mahmassani brings over 35 years of research, academic and professional experience in transportation systems analysis, network modeling and logistics systems. He also currently serves on the International Advisory Board of the Panama Canal Authority.
Susan Shaheen is professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. She is a pioneer and thought leader in future mobility strategies. She was among the first to observe, research, and write about changing dynamics in shared mobility and the likely scenarios through which automated vehicles will gain prominence. She is an internationally recognized expert in mobility and the sharing economy and co-directs the Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California (UC), Berkeley. She has a Ph.D. in ecology, focusing on the energy and environmental aspects of transportation, from UC Davis and a M.S. in public policy analysis from the University of Rochester.
Shin-pei Tsay is the Director of Policy, Cities and Transportation at Uber. In her current role at Uber, she leads a team of issues experts that contribute to creating a sustainable, multi-modal urban future. Previously, she was the executive director of Gehl Institute whose mission was to make public life a driver of policy, design, and governance. Prior to joining Gehl Institute, Shin-pei was the deputy executive director of TransitCenter, a national foundation focused on improving urban transportation, where she led the study Private Mobility, Public Interest. She received a BA in government with distinction from Cornell University and an MSc in City, Space, and Society from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
