Are you interested in political mobilization, corporate-social responsibility, activism, and/or social change? If so, you may be interested in our interdisciplinary Social Movement Workshop! It provides a great space for graduate students to share work-in-progress, benefit from constructive feedback, and exchange ideas with other students and faculty in a supportive environment.
We typically meet 4-6 times per quarter. The majority of our meetings are graduate student paper presentations, but we occasionally have faculty presenters -- both from Northwestern, and also guests from other institutions. When we bring in outside faculty presenters, we set up one-on-one and group meetings with them for our workshop participants. Most quarters, we also reserve one of our meetings to discuss students' early-stage project ideas, and we also have occasional "book clubs" where we all read a book and discuss it as a group.
