*Co-sponsored by Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA)

The COVID-19 pandemic presents us with a live case study on how racism and racist practices, not race, have made historically marginalized communities more vulnerable to the morbidity and mortality of the coronavirus. Our distinguished panelists will share their perspectives on how the Black, Latinx, Native American, and Asian communities have been impacted by Covid-19. A moderated discussion will be followed by Q&A. The speakers are:

Olivia Denise Carter-Pokras, Ph.D., Professor, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Maryland Population Research Center, University of Maryland School of Public Health.

Linda Rae Murray, M.D. MPH, F.A.C.P., Adjunct Assistant Professor, University of Illinois School of Public Health, Honorary Attending, Cook County Hospital.

Sunmin Lee, ScD, MPH, Professor, Department of Epidemiology, University of California, Irvine, Co-Leader, Cancer Control Program, Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Sarah Hatcher, PhD, Epidemiologist, Division of Field Studies and Engineering, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NIOSH American Indian and Alaska Native occupational health workgroup and occupational health equity program.

Registered attendees will be sent a link to participate on the day of the event, as well as the speakers' full bios.
