Organized by WiPhi (Women in Philosophy), an initiative in the philosophy department founded in 2011-2012. WiPhi is an all-female group of members of the philosophy department at all levels - undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. The Gertrude Bussey Lecture is an annual lecture, which invites a distinguished female philosopher at NU to give a public lecture. Bussey, a woman, became the first recipient of a Ph.D. in philosophy at NU in 1915.
