Charting a Path: Introducing the APM Performance Pathway

If your organization participates in an Alternative Payment Model (APM) such as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) under the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), you may be impacted by the APM Performance Pathway (APP) update for 2021.

The APP is designed to reduce reporting burden and increase confidence in moving towards more risk-bearing arrangements that qualify for exclusion from MIPS. The APP introduces changes such as a limited set of six MIPS Quality measures that can be collected and reported through certified EHR technology (CEHRT) or registries rather than the more familiar CMS Web Interface. Participants also have the option of reporting under the APP as individuals or group in addition to reporting through their APM.
