For many Asian Americans during the pandemic, wearing a face mask meant putting on protective gear that, ironically, would offer us no protection from “The Chinese Virus.” How do we care for ourselves before we can be caregivers to our students? What parts of our Asian identity can we leverage to help us heal? How do we impart those practices to our Asian students so that they can heal and disrupt those oppressions? This session will equip attendees with uplifting and diverse examples of how we can gain control of our own narratives.
This session is a part of a week of events with educator-in-residence, Justine Ang Fonte.
