Talk Title: NEW DIRECTIONS IN MENA STUDIES | A Landscape of War
In this book talk, Dr. Munira Khayyat will discuss her work A Landscape of War: Ecologies of Resistance and Survival in South Lebanon. The book incorporates fieldwork that followed the July War in 2006. Communities are sustained by gendered agricultural labor, despite ongoing violence and conflict. The land itself becomes a means to exist, and a way to understand belonging.
Dr. Munira Khayyat is an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo, where she teaches anthropology. She earned her doctorate at New York's Columbia University. A Landscape of War is her first book.
