Nourishment at Noon is a one-hour informal gathering intended to nurture a culture of care and community among Northwestern instructors. The discussion will be 45-minutes with additional 15 minutes reserved for slowing down (i.e., personal reflections, catching breath, centering before next meeting). Nourishment at Noon will serve as an opportunity for instructors to debrief with colleagues, within and outside of one’s discipline, about their inclusive teaching journey. Topics of discussion could range from facilitation techniques that one is testing out to difficult dialogues with students.
These conversations will be facilitated by Veronica Womack, a social psychologist and the Center’s Associate Director of Inclusive Learning. Contemplative-centered approaches will be used to check-in with instructors, exchange self-care strategies, and cultivate conversations to support them as they sustain their inclusive teaching practices. Snacks and beverages will be served at the in-person gatherings.
Objectives
-Listen to and share experiences of inclusive teaching with other instructors
