Title: Careers in Data Science: The Product Analytics Track
Abstract:
Data science is often regarded as a broad term for any complex data processing work, which can span collection to insights to predictive models. My data science journey started on and continues down the product analytics track, the process of analyzing how users engage with a product or service. In this seminar, I will talk about why and how I pursued this career pivot, arriving at the present day where I’m working on impact measures of bioimaging software. Then, I’ll describe some mentoring opportunities and analytics frameworks that helped me navigate an often ambiguous problem-space. Finally, I’ll conclude with some thoughts on data science careers in the 2020s and useful tips for landing a post-academic role that’s right for you.
