BCE continues its annual tradition of a concert inspired by the beauty of evensong, one of the most beloved and ancient liturgies of the Anglican church. Their offering combines the structure and ritual of this traditional service with contemporary music to create a timeless contemplation of some of the most fundamental questions concerning what it means to be fully human. This year’s program explores themes of plague and healing, with works including Charles Ives’s Psalm 67, Hugo Distler’s Fürwahr, er trug unsere Krankheit, and excerpts from Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year.
