Double bassist Dominik Wagner performs with orchestras in Germany and the United States and has won numerous prizes as a competitor, including the Opus Klassik for Young Talent of the Year in 2022, the ECHO Klassik, and the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis. An avid promoter of the double bass, Wagner is dedicated to expanding the repertoire for the instrument, seeking out new works and performing with such mastery that Bavaria’s Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper wrote of his playing, “one would think that the double bass is the softest-sounding and most virtuosic string instrument.” He has performed with the Emerson String Quartet, the Danish String Quartet, and violinist Isabelle Faust, among others, and holds a professorship for double bass at the University of Music Würzburg.
