For students to learn mathematics, they need opportunities to grapple with rich tasks. But, what is a rich task? Where can you find them? What if your curriculum is thin on rich tasks? In this one-day workshop, we will explore what makes math tasks rich and how to adapt tasks in your current curriculum to deepen students’ mathematical work and thinking. Bring your current math curricular materials or tasks you’d like to revise and join us as we try on a process you can use throughout the school year for making each task a richer learning opportunity for your students. Parking and lunch vouchers included.
Illinois licensed teachers will be eligible to receive 5 hours of professional development that can be used toward Illinois teacher licensure renewal.
Registration for this workshop will close on July 23rd, 2024.
