As part of the two-day conference, "Korean Adoption and Its Global Legacies: 70 Years and Beyond," there will be a special presentation and conversation with filmmaker Jota Mun, director of the forthcoming documentary, Between Goodbyes, and film participant and producer Mieke Murkes. Murkes was reunited with her Korean parents years after she was adopted by a Dutch family. The film follows Murkes's journey and the long-term struggles of reunion.
The film will be introduced by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Deann Borshay Liem. The conversation with Jota Mun and Mieke Murkes will be moderated by Viola Bao, Northwestern University.
