Brand new to coding? Want to learn R? This workshop will be helpful for those looking to get started with R or who would benefit from a systematic introduction to the why’s and how's of using R effectively. At the end of this workshop, you will be able to statistically analyze or visualize your own data sets. We encourage attendance on all four days, especially for those who are self-taught coders and would benefit from a ground-up introduction to programming concepts. Day 1 is optional for those who have familiarity with other programming languages or have prior R coding experience.  This in-person workshop will not be recorded.

Day 1 teaches key concepts to those with little to no previous experience with computer programming. This workshop will help you gain familiarity with the central concepts needed to use R productively and successfully. You will learn how to read data using filepaths, how R stores values and data sets in variables, data types, vectors, comparisons and conditional tests, selecting and subsetting data, and writing functions and code scripts.
 
Days 2-4: We will cover five main topics: learning the fundamentals of R, working with dataframes or datasets, performing basic operations, conducting common statistical tests, and creating visualizations with ggplot2.  

Prerequisites: You should be available for at least Days 2 - 4. The instructor will not be able to help you catch up if you miss materials. You will need to bring a laptop to participate.
