We will cover different options for accessing Quest, including working from the command line and using our newest service Quest OnDemand to access the cluster via a web browser. Attendees will spend time crafting job submission scripts and learn best practices for making job requests that will be scheduled in a timely fashion. We will cover using different software and programming languages on Quest and practice building software environments for use with different IDEs such as RStudio and Jupyter Notebook. By the end of the day, attendees should have a clear understanding of the HPC resources available at Northwestern, be confident performing basic tasks from the command line, and have experience writing and submitting jobs scripts that they can apply to their own research.
