Centering Identities in STEM: Racial Equity and Social Justice in STEM Classrooms
Tuesday, October 29th | 11 am - 12 pm CT
Searle’s DEIJ Reading Circles are designed to create “brave spaces” and inspire a culture of growth. In a small group, participants explore DEIJ issues in higher education and deepen their understanding of equitable teaching practices through the guided discussion of scholarly texts.
Centering Identities in STEM is a 60-minute virtual DEIJ Reading Circle that takes place at the roughly the mid-point of each academic quarter. The articles to be read in advance for the fall focus on marginalized student experiences in STEM classrooms and inclusive pedagogical approaches.
Open to graduate students, postdocs, and instructors at all stages of their careers. Facilitated by an educational developer and a graduate student (educational development coordinator) from the Searle Center.
Please note, this program is CIRTL eligible and that we piloted this last year as the Equity in STEM Journal Club. If you have any questions, please contact Erika Nadile at erika.nadile@northwestern.edu.
