This discussion forum will engage Dr. Babatunde Babalola of the British Museum on his groundbreaking research on glass technology in the ancient city of Ile-Ife and its implications for reimagining the history of technology in Africa between the eleventh and fifteenth centuries AD. Two of Dr. Babalola’s publications will be the focus of the conversation and can be found on this link. The discussion will also examine Dr. Babalola’s latest research on African metallurgy. Dr. Akin Ogundiran of the Department of History will moderate the conversation.
