In this talk, I will introduce how amplitude techniques are applied to the study of gravitational waves. After a broad overview of the field, I will focus on how these techniques were employed to achieve the first computation of the scattering gravitational waveform at sub-leading order in the post-Minkowski expansion. At this order, the waveform reveals a wealth of physical phenomena, including asymptotic symmetries and gravitational memory effects. I will conclude by discussing promising future directions in this field.
