Roma Colwell is an Associate Principal, Investor Education at OCC and is a certified instructor for The Options Industry Council (OIC)SM. Roma has more than 27 years in the securities industry, 18 of which were spent as a floor broker, market maker, specialist and risk manager in both San Francisco and Chicago. Prior to joining OIC, Roma was an instructor at the Options Institute, the education branch of Cboe Global Markets, formerly the Chicago Board Options Exchange, where she conducted option seminars for domestic and international segments of the investing community.

Currently, Roma’s main focus is options education for university and college students. Since Covid, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of students interested in and trading options. For many of these students that means seeking option education from reddit or other networking communities, which is an industry concern. For this reason, OIC along with their advisory board, which represents all the exchanges, have initiated an outreach program to introduce students to basic option education and quality strategy-based trading.
