Joe Clark and Darius Hampton, conductors
Pianist and composer Keith Jarrett performed with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers early in his career, later collaborating with Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis before embarking on a solo career. He has been awarded the Polar Music Prize in both the classical and contemporary fields. Another influential jazz pianist and composer, Andrew Hill, began his career touring with Charlie Parker and Miles Davis, going on to make numerous post-bop recordings as a bandleader on the Blue Note label with the likes of Eric Dolphy, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson, and Freddie Hubbard. Join the Joe Clark and Darius Hampton ensembles for a celebration of Jarrett and Hill’s music.
