Join the Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellbeing (ISGMH) for our January Current Issues in LGBTQ Health lecture, Policing the Rainbow: LGBTQ Experiences with and Attitudes Toward the Police, featuring Stefan Vogler, PhD.
About the Lecture
This talk will present exploratory findings regarding the relationship between forms of police contact and LGBTQ people’s self-rated health using data from a national sample of both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ people. Vogler's research reveals that while police contact has negative implications for self-rated health for both groups, those adverse impacts are more pronounced for LGBTQ people than non-LGBTQ people. He will also discuss the public health and policy implications of these results.
