MSA & CAPS: Healing Across Generations - Understanding and Addressing Intergenerational Trauma within Asian Families
Are you curious about how your family history influences your emotional well-being? This interactive workshop explores intergenerational trauma and its impact on Asian American communities. Learn how family patterns, cultural narratives, and unspoken stories shape your experiences today. Through guided self-exploration and trauma-focused healing exercises, you’ll gain tools to navigate your personal healing journey, share and witness in community, and foster resilience across generations.
Facilitator Bio: Dr. Qianhui Zhang is a multilingual psychologist from CAPS, with a focus on trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and relational-cultural approaches. Her professional passion is shaped by her own experiences as a queer Asian immigrant, a first-gen college student, and a trauma survivor. At CAPS, she has served as a mental health liaison for International and Asian American students, working to improve cultural-responsive care and reduce mental health stigma. Beyond therapy, she is dedicated to community programming and exploring non-Western holistic healing practices. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, nature walks, bubble baths, and delving into Tarot and astrology.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Solidari-Tea is a signature MSA program which takes place bi-weekly during Fall, Winter, and Spring quarter. This is a community gathering space which focuses on topics pertaining to Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) communities as well special edition sessions which involve crafts. While the topics center the lived experiences of the APIDA community, the events are open for all BIPOC students to attend. Over tea, topics, and crafts, BIPOC students are welcome to use this gathering space as an opportunity to build relationships and community with each other.
