Janhavi has been a scientific editor with Cell for about two years. She graduated with her PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. At Cell, she handles manuscripts from diverse areas including neuroscience. In her talk, she will cover different aspects of publishing with Cell as well as the broader Cell Press including what they look for, how they invite reviewers and how transfers work. If time permits, the last 15 min of the talk will be dedicated to graduate students and post-docs who might be interested in a career as an editor and will highlight a personal view of what is like to be an editor and what the application process looks like.
