The NIH has moved up the timeline for the New NIH Public Access Policy. Starting July 1, 2025, all peer-reviewed manuscripts resulting from NIH funding must be made immediately available in PubMed Central — including early online versions like epub ahead of print. Not only does compliance promote transparency and access, but it is also a legal requirement and mandatory for funding. Non-compliance can jeopardize current and future NIH awards, including renewals.
To help you prepare, Galter Library is hosting two in-person information sessions:
· June 25 – 9:00 – 11:00 am CST, SQBRC Simpson-Querrey Auditorium
· July 8 – 2:30 – 4:30 pm CST, Baldwin Auditorium (Click here for the July 8th PlanitPurple link)
These sessions will walk you through:
· What’s changing under the new policy
· What to expect after award receipt
· The writing and publishing process, including information on open access publishing models and working with journals and publishers
· Depositing and reporting
We’ll also cover strategies for refining language for clarity and compliance for federal grant materials, including the Biosketch, Other Support, RPPR, and more.
