SUMMARY:Pharmacology Seminar Series: Yi-Tao Yu\, PhD
UID:632977@northwestern.edu
TZID:America/Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Yi-Tao Yu\, PhD\, Distinguished Professor\, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics\, University of Rochester.   Title: Exploring Pre-mRNA Splicing and Translational Recoding via Targeted RNA Pseudouridylation.” Abstract: “RNA-guided RNA pseudouridylation is a naturally occurring mechanism in eukaryotic cells. By designing artificial guide RNAs\, we have developed systems to investigate the roles of pseudouridine in pre-mRNA splicing and translational recoding. This approach has revealed that snRNA pseudouridylation modulates splicing\, while pseudouridylation of mRNA and tRNA contributes to nonsense suppression and codon-specific recoding.”
