Distinguished tenor Stanford Olsen has enjoyed a nearly four-decade-long career performing in operas, concerts, and recitals with the world’s leading orchestras. Since his professional debut in 1986 with Bellini’s I Puritani, Olsen has performed over 160 times with New York’s Metropolitan Opera. His performances of leading tenor roles in the operas of Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini, as well as his bel canto roles of Nemorino, Almaviva, and Arturo have garnered international acclaim. A concert soloist since 1983, Olsen has sung with orchestras around the world in repertoire from Bach to Bartók, including over 100 performances each of Beethoven’s 9th, Handel’s Messiah, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. Olsen is the recipient of four Grammy nominations, the 1989 Walter W. Naumburg Award, and numerous other accolades.
