SUMMARY:Advanced Training in Open and Endoscopic Surgery
UID:635296@northwestern.edu
TZID:America/Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Surgical approaches to the skull base require a deep understanding of neuroanatomy. The advanced training of open and endoscopic surgery gives residents\, fellows\, and practicing surgeons an opportunity to work with highly trained faculty using state-of-the-art technologies and hands-on dissection\, emphasizing a comprehensive and translational approach using real surgical techniques that better equip trainees with the skills they need in the operating room. Overview: Program includes anatomical hands-on dissections emphasizing open and endoscopic skull base surgery\, lectures and prosections\, case studies and tumor board discussion as well as 3D anatomy presentations. Objectives: 1. Review the surgical approaches (open and endoscopic) for complex\, skull base pathologies. 2. Recognize the advantages of a team based approach for managing pre\, peri and postoperative skull base pathologies. 3. Demonstrate proficient endoscopic instrument handling and performing standard open skull base approaches. 4. Master minimally invasive endoscopic endonasal approaches to the sellar and parasellar area\, advanced orbital-zygomatic craniotomy. 5. Identify complex skull base pathologies.\n\nMore Info: https://www.nmskullbase.org/\n\nRegister: https://northwestern.cloud-cme.com/course/courseoverview?P=0&EID=116824
