The field of biology stands on the cusp of a new era, driven by technological revolutions that generate vast amounts of data, offering unprecedented opportunities to decipher the fundamental rules of life across scales. However, our ability to extract meaningful insights from these complex data has lagged behind, creating a critical need for innovative approaches. We envision developing scientific machine learning approaches that leverage diverse biological imaging data to create generative, physically informed models of living matter that govern cell and tissue dynamics.
This symposium will bring in several external experts and provide opportunities for local researchers working in this area to present ongoing work. All Seed projects funded through the UChicago AI Research Area on “From Cells to Tissues with AI” will be presenting their progress; and we welcome participation from the broader community.. The symposium aims to foster collaboration, share cutting-edge research, and facilitate discussions on the unique opportunities.
