People who earn (undergraduate and graduate) physics degrees acquire a broad skillset and can excel in a variety of careers, including things like data science, software development, consulting, and education, among many others. To showcase the kind of roles you will be qualified to pursue with your degree, we are launching a new "Careers in Physics" alumni visitor series in 2026.
This series will include Q&A sessions with alumni from different sectors, as well as the opportunity to meet one-on-one or in small groups with alumni visitors. We encourage all students in the department to participate and will invite a combination of undergraduate and graduate alumni. The goal is to provide exposure to real people in real jobs---who used to be in your shoes not that long ago!
The first event will be a short talk and discussion with Dr. Phalguni Shah on Thursday, January 15. Dr. Shah earned her PhD in physics here at Northwestern working with Prof. Michelle Driscoll and is now a research engineer at PPG Industries.
