DESCRIPTION:Title: Regulation of sporulation signaling by Rok in Bacillus subtilis biofilms Description: Bacillus subtilis forms complex structured communities known as biofilms that confer protection against environmental stressors. Biofilms exhibit collective behaviors and emergent properties which arise from cellular heterogeneity across a clonal population. A key subpopulation within these biofilms consists of highly resistant\, dormant spores that ensure long-term survival. My work aims to further our understanding of this developmental process by defining how the nucleoid-associated protein Rok regulates sporulation within biofilms.
