UID:641937@northwestern.edu
TZID:America/Chicago
DESCRIPTION:Narrating Memory: Podcasting Oral History\, will be a two-day experience where participants will explore oral history as a tool for recovering\, preserving\, and reclaiming memory. Workshop participants will gain practical skills in audio recording\, interview techniques\, and digital editing\, culminating in the production of short podcast pieces centered on family or community stories.   Space is limited\, so please note that if you register for this workshop\, you are expected to participate fully in both sessions\, Tues.\, April 28 and Wed.\, April 29\, 2026 (5 - 7pm). The workshop is open to students\, staff\, and faculty. In the first session\, participants will select a personal or family story for documentation and conduct a peer interview to record their chosen narrative. Between sessions\, participants will be invited to record somebody\, a conversation with a parent\, grandparent\, or someone who carries a story that is worth preserving. In the second session\, Zhou will train participants in audio editing and production using Hindenburg Pro\, drawing from their own recordings. Participants will then apply these skills to editing a podcast segment\, drawing from either their peer interview or their at-home recording. Laptop and smartphone will be needed for the second session.\n\nMore Info: https://humanities.northwestern.edu/public-humanities/artist-engagement/artist-in-residence/\n\nRegister: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=YdN2fXeCCEekd2ToNmzRvFmhWH6BRoxChwlZGr3s50tUMks0WTNZRkxFTThJMTVBSzdHM1RNTjFSNi4u&route=shorturl
